Quick little blurb on the weekend:
I started the neagari azalea project and posted the details with pictures to my blog. I bought two azaleas from Home Depot for this project. The nice surprise was that one actually had two plants, so I ended up with three. I also did some drastic pruning on the dwarf rhododendron and posted the details and pictures to the blog.
I used some of the material I trimmed off the azaleas to start some cuttings. I didn't bother to post pictures because, well there was nothing to it! I had some of the coco pellets, 20. So that's all the cuttings I did. I could have done a lot more. For now I left the rest of the cut material in the bucket, in case I decide to do more cuttings this week.
While I was at it, I planted the Chinese elm seeds as well as some of the guava seeds I had. Again, no pictures there because well, nothing to it. For the elms, I used some seed starting cells I already had. The guavas went into some dirt I already had started for my failed bok choy.
I had a few left over elm seeds, so I gave those to Aaron. We talked for a bit about the little trees he has growing in his area. He then gave me a couple of tiny little (possible) Japanese maple seedlings that just happened to spring up in a couple of pots. He also said I can have the two crapapples as well as the tiny little trident maple we found still clinging to life. He mentioned the English oaks that I grew from acorns I gathered in Victoria. He said I could have those as well. I'm going to leave them alone for now, maybe I'll do something with them later.
I'm still waiting on the Ficus religiosa seeds to arrive by mail. I doubt the seeds will grow, but you never know.
That's it for now. Weekend was busy, but productive.
