Taken from my bonsai logbook:
"6/12/12
Just got back from vacation at San Diego. I'm looking through some bonsai magazines and online sources for inspiration on wiring.
Looking at an older Bonsai Today; it illustrates a method to create more interesting scope of bonsai created by cutting back thinner branches, then wiring into shape. The 'before and after' illustrations can be easily done with ficus cuttings, I think. The important concept to note is the 'S' shape, which gives the bonsai the 'dragon bonsai' look I'm trying to achieve.
(drawn illustrations are included)
The examples provided are difficult to gauge from the picture - is that a flat 'S' shape, or a more dynamic 'coiled S' shape? I think it's a coil, only not as 'coily' as I have previously been doing. Perhaps the true shape is more fluid with curves, not just a flat out spiral
(more drawn illustration included, emphasis given on tight curves, S shapes, etc)"
I will include more pictures later of up to date wirings I did over the summer. Oh, and yes, I have an actual bonsai log book that I've kept for about 10 years, more or less
