Remember my last post, where I said all of my 'golden gate' ficus cuttings shriveled up and died? Well, it seems only most or part of them did. I may have had limited success, as some are alive though a bit scorched. My other ficus cuttings are doing much better. I ordered some aluminum wire a few weeks ago, and I've been wiring up more and more cuttings. Woot!
I discovered an added bonus to bringing my bonsai to work. I mean besides the fact that they're really cool looking, people love them and ask me about them and that I can bring bonsai after bonsai, keeping my desk looking fresh. The added bonus is that I can just sit and look at my bonsai. For hours! While I work, of course, but I find I use the extra viewing time to add final touches to the wired bonsai. A slight bend here. A snip there. When the bonsai makes its rotation back home (the tomato red octopus bonsai came home today), it comes back a more refined tree.
The other bonus is that I can test bonsai survivability in a real world office environment. The lighting isn't all that great, I water about 1-2 times per week. They come home none worse for the wear, and quickly go back to fast growing when I put them outside. So I switched bonsai today. Took the sea urchin bonsai to work. I'll switch it out with the next bonsai in a week or two.
I was able to come up with the funds for the Fairy Fest in November. I will be attending the two day event as a vendor. Yay! And that's it, nothing else to post.
